Comments on Videos
Video #1
The first video I thought was interesting because the people saw the picture that Travis had taken and thought it was great but as soon as they realized where the picture was taken, they went back to the mental picture they had taken. I thought it was funny because we tend to do that. It could look great in a picture but not when you actually see it.

This was my favorite video because when Taryn Simon shot the photos she shot the truth. Which many people did not want. When she went into government or prohibited places she saw what people were really doing. Such as when she went to the forensics place and saw the cadaver and that it was a young boy. Its a little unnerving to those who look at it. Pictures can be worth a thousand words.
But in some cases pictures can be used in correctly. I just thought it was interesting how when people saw the pictures of the accused it alters the original image in your mind to fit the picture that is shown. But this was by far my favorite video. Its hard for me to describe.

Dorothea Lange
This is one of Dorotheas most famous pictures. This picture is called "Migrant Woman." I really like this picture because it shows what is going on at the time of the depression. I think having the children there also impacts the picture because children are involved. I think the black and white is interesting because you just look at her expression and not at what she is wearing.
This picture actually scares me.Its because his eyes look almost white.But he looks like he didn't know she was about to take the picture. His car looks old. And his clothes tell a story of what time they were living in.the mans wrinkles probably ages him to about in his forties maybe. Like he has had a hard life and is concerned.
This is a picture of Dorothea Lange. Shes sitting with one of her camera's what looks like on top of a car. She looks happy but also tired.I like this picture because it seems like its really her. That maybe she really was a happy person who had a lot going on. To me her eyes kind of seem like there not saying all that is going on.
I like this picture. It shows how life was for them. Which is what Dorothea tried to capture in her pictures during the depression. I think the little boy is kind of sad looking, maybe he could be bored, because the little girl isn't even paying attention she seems to be looking of into the distance. But other than all of these little things i like how the wood kind of frames them into the picture.Dorothea Lange was born in Hoboken, New Jersey, May 26,1895. When she was just seven she was diagnosed with Polio. With this she developed a permanent limp leg. When she was 12 her father abandoned her and her mother.
She joined photography first off in New York City. When she became more experienced she turned her photography to the streets. It was the time of the depression. She documented and captured the suffering of the people who were living at the time. One of her most famous pictures is called the "Migrant Woman."
People began to notice her work. Which led her to her employment with the FSA.
She documented what life was like for the people living around her. She also took pictures to document such as one of her pictures is of a sign that says " I Am An American."
Dorothea received the Guggenheim Fellowship award. But when she took up the War Relocation Authority assignment she was forced to give up her reward. She documented the Japanese Americans on their way to the camp. For many her pictures were shocking. The Army impounded many of her picture's from the Manzanar camp.
Dorothea was offered a position by Ansel Adams at the school of California Fine arts. She co-founded the magazine Aperture.
Dorothea Lange died of cancer on October 11,1965. Dorothea accomplished much in her life time and her pictures still live on today. She documented some of the most important events of history. Dorothea's pictures are of reality which I think is important because today so many of our pictures aren't real they have so much done to them.
Observations
Person #1
Relaxing in her camping chair with her eyes closed, she is asleep. Her blond hair is pulled into a pony on the crown of her head. Pieces of hair fall into her eyes. Her eyebrows are arched as if shes concerned. Her mouth is tense as if shes about to say something. Her shirt is dirty from camping and taking care of all the little kids running around her. On her shirt is a bike, possibly indicating that she is an active person. Her feet are falling off the black chair.All of the sudden she wakes up wondering where she is then she realizes that she is about to fall off of the camp chair. she readjusts herself and picks up the magazine that has fallen off of her lap. Its a the People magazine. She slides on her black shades and sets into reading.
Person #2
trying to whip out french toast as fast as she can the woman sets into her concentration mode. With all the little kids wanting food she is handling the situation very well. Her black hair is pulled back into a pony tail. She has little strands of white streaking through her jet black hair. Shes a petite woman with little feet. Her face is tan with soft lines creasing her mouth. the woman's eyes are green and brown. She smiles under pressure. And then the whole scene is over once the French toast is finished. she sits down sighing rubbing her feet then she is back up, on the move again.

The girl is ready to begin the program. Her short blond hair fits her happy personality. Her smile is contagious to those around her. She has a flowie white shirt on, with a pink skirt that has little flowers on it. In on her head is a pink sixties head band. Her eyelashes are thick and blond. She has white buckle shoes on. as she begins to speak everyone is entranced with what she has to say. she moves her hands in excitement as she tells us her memories of her child hood. When it comes time to move on to another girl about her age she finishes with a dazzling smile. then she gracefully moves to sit by her parents. You can tell that they are family by there features. The girl is probably in high school, a senior.

Rocks that look like they never end. with my little sister standing at the bottom she looks like an ant. The sky above is clear and turquoise blue. There is no cloud in the sky. Interesting rocks shaped like dinosaurs about to eat something every where. Little fat chip monks scramble up the cliff side like ninjas on the move:).
The trees are empty there is no life on the branches, just smooth bark that is turning brown under the blazing sun.
Scene #2
looking up at the sky you notice these big white silky sacs. The little sacks contain many caterpillar's.But with that many little black things begin to fall. You can probably guess what that is. the little caterpillar's are every where. they crawl under your feet. Into your tent. everywhere. But they are cute they have a thousand little prickle hairs all over their bodies. There racing stripes are orange and blue. And they are fast, when they want to be. the they only like certain trees. if u drive down the rode there are hundreds of sacs. They hang off the branches drowning out the life of the tree, who is trying to survive after the caterpillar's ate all of their leaves off. Caterpillars are everywhere in your hair falling out of the trees into your food. Everywhere.

As the garden is overwhelmed with weeds there is a patch of hope. but it doesn't have much time to live before the weeds conquer the little patch of green soft luscious grass. the weeds are trying about to conquer the grass. trying to help my mom and i begin to pull weeds feeling the stiffness from pulling so hard. and it could have been prevented from pulling weeds before winter. So we learned our lesson.

Final Project
For my final project I wanted to shoot memory's. But that's not my final decision. Because I cant really make up my mind. But if I did do memory's some ideas would be things caught in time like happy moments such as birthdays. Sad moments could be something dying. I'm not sure there's so much i could do for a final project.
My list of projects:
Food-I could do before and afters, such as where the food started and over time it came to your table in a plastic bowl. Like corn. Or wheat for bread then becomes toast.
Things stopped in time-like a ball bouncing but that would be kind of hard. I have some ideas though like my dog when he runs at you. Or my sister's face after my Mom tells her she cant have oreo's before dinner.
Shadows- I could do the shadow of something such as a dile that could build to tell time as the sun rotates and the direction of the sun moves.
So these are just some ideas. I'm not sure how much i could expand on them. Because i want to do something creative.
